♥ Monthly packets of food staples to 200 elderly and disabled people with no family support or pension. Your donation of $80 will buy a year’s worth of packets for one person; a pledge of $20/month will sponsor three people.
♥ Scholarships for young people to attend technical school or university. They receive an average of $150 per year, or $12.50 per month.
♥ Chickens and beehives for poor families, with offspring chicks and new hives passed along to others. Poultry is especially valuable: eggs augment a family’s diet with vital protein. Our focus now is to provide protective fencing and a chicken coop for each new family receiving chicks from others; the cost is $180, or a pledge of $15/month.
♥ A medical fund which pays for travel to other towns for treatments, as well as prescriptions for medicines not carried in the government health clinic. $125 pays for one month of our total medical budget.
♥ Well repair helps people who are living off the land to survive periods of drought. It makes more water available for human consumption, bathing, and laundry. People can water nearby fruit trees, vegetable gardens, and chickens. $240 (or a $20/month pledge) is the average cost of repairing a well. $125 (about $12/month) buys a manual rope pump. Three bags of cement cost about $27.
♥ CDI, a preschool nutrition and education center for about 55 children. Our share of the CDI budget is about $95 per child for a year, or $8 a month.
♥ The Phil Mitchell revolving loan fund, which provides microcredit for small businesses and housing repair at the lowest interest rates in the Limay area. Your gift of any size promotes Limay’s development.
You can see that these projects are vital to well-being of people in this municipality.
