“FiLMinutos” Print by Eduardo Muñoz Bachs. (1937-1999). This 1983 print by Muñoz Bachs has been donated by Carol Higgs. 18 1/2″ x 29″ Bachs is one of the most interesting, prolific and collectable Cuban poster designers. His works have been exhibited in Cuba and abroad with some works integrated into permanent collections. He has participated in numerous national and international events and has obtained several important prizes.

Three gorditas

Three Gorditas: Marmolina Sculptures These sculptures of three Gorditas (large women) are made of marmolina (soapstone). Sizable versions of these sculptures can be found in Nicaragua at key points on the road from Limay to Esteli, called “Ruta de las Gordas” (Route of the Large Women). This art form is said to represent the value Nicaraguans place on the strength of women. The three Gorditas portray the proverb, “See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.” Sculpted by Oscar Davila, award-winning Limay artist. Each is about 3 -1/2” high.
